About Tamar
M. Tamar Berg is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT) in private practice in Sonoma County, CA offering psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families specializing in Play therapy for children and Psychodrama for people dealing with trauma. Prior to relocating to Sonoma County in 2000, Tamar had 12 years field experience as a licensed social worker and family therapist in Germany, providing services for youth and families.Studying in California she received her MA in Counseling at SSU in 2002.
Her background is wide-ranging, having worked at Family Service Agency with children, individual adults, couples and families. She gained experience working with the homeless, adolescents in recovery from alcohol and drug abuse and mentally ill people and their families.
Tamar enhanced her clinical experience as a school counselor working with children and their families in three different elementary schools where she saw children with behavior problems, anxiety and depression as well as with physical and sexual abuse issues. She worked with parents on parenting and divorce issues and facilitated groups for children with anger, social skill and divorce problems.
For several years she worked for a rape crisis center where she offered therapy for people dealing with trauma like rape, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse and physical abuse. She facilitated skill building and Psychodrama therapy groups.
Tamar has trained in Psychodrama with clinical practitioners from Germany, Israel and the United States.
